New Delhi: The Narendra Modi-led central government has made it a priority to provide affordable, high-quality healthcare to all of the country's citizens, said health minister Mansukh Mandaviya. The minister stated this while opening Central Government Health Scheme Wellness Centres in Chandigarh and Panchkula on Friday. "To ensure this, the Centre has been focusing on expanding CGHS facilities," he added.

The billing and reimbursement cycle has already been made much easier than in the past, and it will only get faster and simpler moving forward,  Pensioners shouldn't have to battle to obtain high-quality healthcare, Mandaviya said.

"CGHS technology has been merged with that of the National Health Authority, and with our goal to quickly expand CGHS to 100 cities in India, the availability of high-quality healthcare for Indians will only grow. The achievement of Ayushman Bharat shows that the Modi administration has always placed a high importance on ensuring that the poor have equal access to affordable and high-quality healthcare.

About Ayushman Bharat:  Ayushman Bharat, the healthcare initiative launched by the Narendra Modi government in India, comprises two key components: Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) and Health and Wellness Centres (HWCs). PM-JAY provides health insurance coverage to over 500 million people from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Under this scheme, eligible beneficiaries are entitled to receive cashless treatment for various medical procedures and hospitalizations.

The second component, Health and Wellness Centres, aims to strengthen primary healthcare infrastructure in the country. These centers provide comprehensive healthcare services, including prevention, promotion, and treatment of various diseases at the grassroots level. They focus on preventive care, maternal and child health services, and non-communicable diseases.

Ayushman Bharat has significantly contributed to increasing healthcare accessibility and affordability, particularly for the poor and marginalized sections of society. It has played a crucial role in reducing out-of-pocket healthcare expenses and financial burdens on families, as well as improving healthcare infrastructure and services across the country.

Since its launch in September 2018, Ayushman Bharat has provided essential healthcare services to millions of people, positively impacting their lives. It has helped in bridging the gap between rural and urban healthcare facilities and has been instrumental in achieving the goal of universal health coverage in India.
