Manipur's Director General of Police, Rajiv Singh, is one of 204 police personnel selected to receive the Union Home Minister's Special Operation Medal for 2023.

This elite group includes the highly regarded Senior IPS officer, Amit Kumar, renowned for his service in various roles in Jammu and Kashmir, and his current assignment with the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), a list that has received the seal of approval from the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah.

Mr. Rajiv Singh, who took on the mantle of Chief of Manipur Police in the wake of ethnic violence that shook the northeastern state in May, has been awarded this honor in recognition of his exceptional performance during his tenure as the Inspector General of the CRPF.

Hailing from three central organizations, namely the CRPF, the National Investigation Agency, and the Narcotics Control Bureau, as well as representing ten different states, these 204 distinguished police personnel have earned their place in this distinguished roll of honor. The states they represent include Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Tripura, West Bengal, and Uttarakhand.

The Home Minister's Special Operation Medal was first established in 2018 with the specific purpose of acknowledging operations characterized by meticulous planning, high importance in safeguarding the nation, its states, and union territories, and significant impact on the security of various segments of society.

This esteemed award is conferred for extraordinary operations in domains such as counter-terrorism, border security, arms control, the prevention of narcotics trafficking, and rescue operations, as highlighted in the official statement.
