Imphal: Indian Railways has given a big gift to Manipur. This is the first time since Independence that a passenger train has successfully conducted a trial run from the Broad Gauge line in Manipur to Vangaichunpao. The passenger train left Sichar railway station in Assam and reached Vangaichunpao station in Manipur. The railway station is located in Tamenglong district of Manipur. The first historic trial run of this passenger train was successfully completed on Friday (July 2, 2021). In a few days, Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal himself will inaugurate the railway line.

Let us tell you that a passenger train named 'Rajdhani Express' was also stopped at Jiribam railway station in the middle. Locals there gave a grand welcome to the officers accompanying the train. The train was then honoured by the local public and officials together. The process was followed by flag hoisting along with the national anthem. North East Frontier Railway Public Relations (PR) officer Nripen Bhattacharya said that train services on this line will start soon.

This will also connect the people of Manipur better with the rest of the country through railways and facilitate their movement. Jiribam in Manipur is on railway map and railway line work was already going on here, but it will take time to start train services to Imphal. At the same time, construction of railway line from Vangaichunpao to Imphal, the capital of Manipur, is also underway. A railway tunnel is also being constructed at Imphal for this purpose. The work will be completed soon.
