Manipur govt pleads to end fear, said, 'keep ambulance sirens turned off'

Amid the corona crisis, the Manipur government has called for closure of ambulance sirens in the state to reduce the atmosphere of anxiety and fear during the outbreak of corona epidemic. The State Medical Directorate in a memorandum has appealed to the Chief Medical Officers, Medical Superintendents, private hospital staff and ambulance operators to stop sirens as their voices are creating fear and social concern among the people.

It says, "Sirens should be played only when the routes are blocked". The state government has extended curfew in several cities till May 28. Manipur on Tuesday reported 624 new cases of corona virus and a total of 40,683 infection cases. The death toll due to death of 20 corona infected persons increased to 612.

2,67,334 new cases of corona virus infection have been reported in the same country. In the last 24 hours, 4,529 patients have died, the highest ever in a day. The infection also healed 3,89,851 people on Tuesday. After the new cases, the total number of cases in the country has gone up to 2,54,96,330, out of which about 2 so far. 20 crore people have recovered. More than 3 lakh new cases have come up today for the third consecutive day. The number of patients undergoing treatment in the country is now 32,26,719, which is about 13 per cent of the total cases. So far, 2,83,248 people have died due to powdervirus.
