NEW DELHI: Protesters from the Kuki community gathered at Jantar Mantar in the national capital on Saturday to condemn the brutal acts that took place in Manipur. Holding placards and raising their voices, they demanded justice and the punishment of those responsible for the heinous incident involving the stripping, parading, and sexual assault of women from the Kuki-Zomi community.

In solidarity, the North East Students' Organisation (NESO) strongly criticized the incident, denouncing it as outrageous, barbaric, and inhumane. Such acts are completely unacceptable in a civilized society, the organization emphasized in a statement. The ordeal and disgrace that these women had to endure is deeply disturbing and should raise concerns among all right-thinking individuals.

The NESO further highlighted the vulnerability of women and children during conflicts and riots, as they are often targeted and preyed upon. They stressed that atrocities against helpless women and children, including the abuse of their modesty and dignity, should never be tolerated or condoned, even during times of war. The organization urged for the arrest and strict punishment of all those involved in this senseless act.

In addition, the NESO called upon the various indigenous communities in Manipur and the entire North East region to uphold peace and brotherhood, strengthening the age-old relationships that have developed over generations. Maintaining unity and harmony among these communities is crucial for the well-being and progress of the region.
