Manipur's law and order collapsed under the BJP government: Congress

As Manipur's political parties preparing for the Assembly elections, they've begun to ramp up their attacks. The Manipur Congress has blamed the state's BJP-led government for the "collapse" of law and order in the state.

The Manipur Congress said that the BJP government's law and order situation had "completely collapsed." The Congress also took a jibe at the BJP government in Manipur, led by Biren Singh, over the AFSPA issue.

"How come the BJP government failed to repeal AFSPA despite promises?" Tilotama Loitongbam, general secretary of the Manipur Congress, was questioned. Meanwhile, the Manipur Congress has chosen to include in its election platform a pledge to remove the AFSPA.

"If the Congress retakes power in 2022, the first Cabinet meeting would deliberate on the immediate and total repeal of AFSPA throughout the state," Manipur Congress leader Ningombam Bupenda Meitei had stated.

Since the massacre of 13 innocent Nagaland citizens by commandos of the 21 para special forces in a bungled counter-insurgency operation in Nagaland's Mon district on December 4 last year, the call to repeal AFSPA has become louder.
