New Delhi: Violent protests were witnessed across the country over the Agnipath scheme brought by the central government. The youth had taken to the streets and the opposition also tried to corner the government by making it an issue. However, now the protests of the youth and students have calmed down after the explanation, but the senior leaders of the Congress are still engaged in creating an atmosphere against the Agnipath scheme. Meanwhile, veteran Congress leader Manish Tewari has written an article in an English newspaper praising the scheme and also expressed his support.

Manish Tewari had termed 'Agnipath' as a part of the wider process of modernisation. Congress has distanced itself from the views expressed in this article by MP Manish Tewari. Congress says that the scheme is not only playing with the national interest but also the future of the youth. Two senior Congress leaders clashed over this article. Congress Communication Head Jairam Ramesh tweeted, "Congress MP Manish Tewari has written an article on Agnipath. Congress is a democratic party. It is necessary to say that these ideas are his own and have nothing to do with the party. The party believes that this scheme is against the security of the nation and the youth, which has been imposed on the youth without discussion.''

Manish Tewari also reacted immediately after Jairam Ramesh's tweet. Tiwari wrote that, in the tagline of the article itself, it is written that these are the personal views of the author. I think Jairam Rameshji must have read the article from beginning to end. You can see it here. Let me tell you that this is the second time that Congress has separated itself from Manish Tewari's views on this scheme. In the past also Manish Tewari has tweeted supporting Agnipath. Even then, Congress issued a statement calling it their personal view.
