Prime Minister adressed the 49th edition of his radio programme Mann Ki Baat Today. He started the program by remembering freedom fighter Sardar Vallabhai Patel. He appealed to the citizens to participate in the 'Run for Unity' on October 31, which marks the birth anniversary of the Sardar Vallabhai Patel.

Remembering the ‘Ironman’ PM said that Sardar Patel's Jayanti this year will be even more special as on this day, we'll pay him true homage by dedicating 'Statue of Unity' to the nation. Located by the banks of river Narmada, the height of this idol is twice that of America's renowned 'Statue of Liberty'.

PM also appeal people to particapte in ‘Run of Unity’ by saying that 1st October marks the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabbhai Patel, & like every year, the youth of our nation is geared up to 'Run for Unity'. I appeal each one of you to participate in 'Run for Unity' in largest possible numbers.

The Statue of Unity is a monument dedicated to Vallabhbhai Patel located in the Indian state of Gujarat. It is located facing the Narmada Dam, 3.2 km (2.0 mi) away on the river island called Sadhu Bet near Rajpipla in Gujarat. It is the world's tallest statue with the height of 182 metres (597 ft).
