New Delhi: According to a research by the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), 76% of Indian media professionals think that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's well-known radio broadcast "Mann Ki Baat" was significant in spreading the concept of the "Real Bharat" to the people.
Mann Ki Baat special radio programme has triggered a trend where people are now more aware of the things in other parts of the country and they have begun appreciating them. "75& of the respondents feel that 'Mann Ki Baat' has emerged as a platform, which introduces grassroots innovators working selflessly to make certain a significant difference in the lives of people living in remote areas of India," the study said further.
IIMC Director General Prof. Sanjay Dwivedi said that the study was carried out between April 12 and April 25, 2023, by the Institute's Outreach Department. A total of 890 media professionals, faculty members, researchers, and students from 116 media organisations, academic centres, and universities around the nation took part in the survey. 564 males and 326 women were among them. 66% of the responders were in the 18 to 25 year old age range.
The two main factors that encourage respondents to listen to the broadcast, in their opinion, are "Knowledge about the Country" and "PM's Vision about the Country."
When asked how they catch up on the show if they miss an episode, 63% of the respondents answered they prefer YouTube to other platforms. 76% of the respondents believe that by following PM Modi's 'Mann Ki Baat' discussions of various problems, they are participating in the democratic process.
Prof. Dwivedi emphasised that the study also sought to determine which topic covered by the Prime Minister in "Mann Ki Baat" had the most influence on the populace. The most influential topic, according to 40% of respondents, was "education," while 26% cited "information about grassroots innovators."
The study also attempted to determine with whom people debate the subjects covered in "Mann Ki Baat." 29 percent of respondents said they talk about the topics with friends and colleagues, while 32% of respondents said they talk about the concerns covered in the show with their families. Another intriguing finding from the study was that 13% of individuals listen to "Mann Ki Baat" on radio, 15% on television, and 37% on Internet-based media.
