New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today addressed the nation through the Mann Ki Baat programme at 11 am. During this time, he spoke of cheering for Olympic athletes and also remembered the martyrs of Kargil. At the same time, on the completion of 75 years of Independence, he also gave the slogan nation first, always first. He said, "On the lines of Gandhi's Quit India Campaign, the people of the country should launch Bharat Jodo Abhiyan. He also praised the people working innovatively across the country including Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Tamil Nadu.'' In fact, he emphasized vocal for local and appealed to the people to use handloom and khadi.'' In his address, he said, "The spirit of patriotism of those who raise the tricolour for the country connects us. Tomorrow is also Kargil Vijay Diwas. It symbolizes the bravery of the Indian Army. I would like you to read the story of Kargil. Bow down to the brave. The country was thrilled to see Indian players in Tokyo two days ago. The whole country told them to be victorious.''

At the same time, he said, "This year, the country is entering the 75th year of independence. It is our good fortune that we are witnessing the 75th year of freedom for which the country waited for centuries. The 'Amrit Mahotsav' started from Bapu's Sabarmati Ashram on March 12. Bapu's Dandi yatra was revived on the same day, since then, from Jammu and Kashmir to Puducherry, from Gujarat to the North-East, Amrit Mahotsav programmes have been going on all over the country. Remembering the freedom fighters, programmes related to this are being organized continuously by the Government and social organizations. One such event is going to be held this time on 15th August, an attempt to mark the national anthem. The Ministry of Culture is trying to make as many Indians sing the National Anthem together on this day, a website has also been created- rashtragaan.in with the help of this, you will be able to sing and record the National Anthem.''

He further said that 'Amrit Mahotsav' is not a political programme but a programme of all Indians. This is the spirit of walking in the path of our freedom fighters, making them the land of their dreams. Just as the freedom-makers of the country had come together for freedom, we have to unite for the development of the country. Even while doing everyday work, we can build nations, such as Vocal for Local. Supporting the local entrepreneurs, artists, craftsmen, weavers of our country should be in our natural nature. National Handloom Day, which falls on 7th August, is an occasion when we can do it with effort. There is a very historical background associated with this day. It was on this day that the Swadeshi movement started in 1905. Handloom is a huge source of income in rural and tribal areas of our country. This is an area with lakhs of women, lakhs of weavers, lakhs of craftsmen. Buy yourself something, and tell your point of view to others also.

Apart from this, he also said- 'In Mann Ki Baat we talk positively, its character is collective. This activism of the youth of India for positive thoughts and suggestions makes me happy. The real power of 'Mann Ki Baat' is the suggestions received from you guys. You send a lot of ideas. We are not able to discuss all of them, but I do send many of those ideas to the concerned departments so that they can be further worked on.''
