Kurung Kume: One worker has been reported dead and 18 missing along the India-China border in the Kurung Kume district of Arunachal Pradesh. Deputy Commissioner Bengia Nighy said that all of them were working on a road project here and have been missing since July 5. He said all the labourers are from Assam.

Deputy Commissioner said "The contractor had brought 19 labourers from Assam to build the road. The area is located at a distance of 150 kilometres from the district headquarters Koloriang. We received the news on July 13 that all workers were missing from the work site. Soon after, we launched a search operation. They were not traced even after searching the surrounding forests and other roads. On Monday, the body of one of those workers was seized from the Furak river."

The same apprehension is being raised that all the workers may have died due to drowning in the Kumi river. This apprehension has gained even more strength after the recovery of a body. Rescue work is currently underway. It is not known when these labourers drowned in the river. Their families don't have any kind of news either. It is being said that a few days ago, they all left for home on foot. There is the Kumi river on the way. There must have been an accident while crossing it. According to media reports, these workers wanted to go to their homes on the occasion of Eid. For this, they demanded leave from the contractor but he refused. After that, they left for their homes on foot. Now the news of their disappearance has officially come out. Police authorities said that searches are on for the missing workers.
