Amritsar: Several Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leaders today joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Punjab leaders have suppressed the BJP at a function held at the party headquarters in the country's capital. Besides Amanjot Kaur Ramoowalia, former Akali Dal National Organisation Secretary Gurpreet Singh Shahpur, former Akali Dal Vice President Chand Singh Chatha, Chetan Mohan Joshi, one of the founding members of AAP, and Baljinder Singh Dhakoha, former District Collector of Gurdaspur, SAD have joined the party in the presence of Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, BJP General Secretary and Punjab in-charge Dushyant Gautam and National General Secretary Tarun Chugh at the BJP headquarters in Delhi.
Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister Shekhawat said that the joining of these leaders in the BJP indicates where the wind is blowing in Punjab. He further said that we will all work together to see that the result of the Punjab assembly elections comes in favor of the BJP. He alleged that some political parties want to enter power in Punjab in the name of farmers and with guns on their shoulders.
Dushyant Gautam welcomed all the leaders who joined the BJP. Meanwhile, Gautam said that under the guise of Kisan Andolan, the way some political parties are keeping the dignity of the Constitution on the table. The people of Punjab are very sad and disturbed by them. His eyes are fixed on PM Narendra Modi for peace and tranquillity in the state.
