Srinagar: Several senior leaders of Jammu have been released before the Block Development Council (BDC) elections. These leaders include leaders of the National Conference, Congress and J&K Panthers Party (J & KPP). Farooq Khan, the advisor to Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satpal Malik, has said that Kashmir's leaders will also be released after reviewing the situation.

Farooq Khan said that "security agencies are constantly tightening the screws on terrorist modules. On the incidents of ceasefire violations by Pakistan, he said that the army is giving them a befitting reply". According to officials, Davinder Singh Rana of the National Conference, Surjit Singh Salathia, Javed Rana and Sajjad Ahmad Kitaklu have been released. Raman Bhalla of Congress, Waqar Rasool and Harsh Dev Singh of J&KPP have also been released. All of them were placed under house arrest under Section 107 of CRPC on 5 August.
