Kolkata: Train services will remain closed at Sealdah on February 9 and 16 due to the commencement of automatic signal system work between Ichhapur and Naihati stations in West Bengal. An official of Eastern Railway has given information about this on Saturday. This will inconvenience passengers, especially daily commuters, next week as at least 318 suburban EMUs have been canceled and many express trains diverted to the busy Sealdah section.

On giving information, the official said that due to the automation work of the signal system, Eastern Railway has announced the cancellation of 50 local trains every day between 10 to 15 February on the main section, including Sealdah-Naihati and Sealdah-Kalyani Local. On February 9, at least 12 suburban trains have been canceled and 6 trains will not be able to run on their scheduled times on February 16, the official said. The official said that during the week many express trains will be transported through the Dum Dum Junction-Dankuni route.

The Eastern Railway official said that among the trains that have been diverted next week are- Kolkata-Sitamarhi-Kolkata Express, Sealdah-Ballia-Sealdah Express, Kolkata-Patna-Kolkata Express, Gaur Express, and Gangasagar Express.
