In the early hours of Sunday, Maoists attacked and killed the fertilizer trader Maduri Bhimeswara Rao in Alubaka village of Venkatapuram mandal. A group of armed terrorists went to Rao's house and forced him out, ignoring his family members' plea to not harm him. The Maoists told the family that they had to talk to him, but within a few minutes they stabbed him to death, reports said.

While talking about the incident and remembering his wife Kumari, we fell at their feet and begged the Maoists not to harm him. But they killed our husband brutally before us. The couple had three children. Maoists left a note that they were killing him as he was creating a division among the people in nearby villages with his power and police cooperation as the TRS leader.

However, they alleged that Rao fertilizer, also known as Beesu, which owns a fertilizer store, was being sold to farmers at high prices. Maoists accused him of fleeing debt sharking and tribals. Maoists warned that other people would face the same fate and demanded that the Venkatapuram and Vajidu mandal politicians should resign immediately.
