'Mardaani 2' director Gopi Putharan has clearly stated that the city of Kota in Rajasthan has been used for the film, there is no intention to tarnish the city's reputation. Putharan says that this film is inspired by true events. The director has apologized for hurting the feelings of the residents of Kota.
