Mumbai: NCP chief Sharad Pawar criticized the Center and the Maharashtra government over unemployment, saying it is creating social problems as marriageable youths are not getting married. Before flagging off NCP's Jan Jagran Abhiyan, Sharad Pawar said that a rift is being created between communities and efforts are being made to divert attention from real issues like price rise and unemployment.
In Pune, Pawar said, "It is possible to solve the issue of hunger in the country because our farmers have increased production, but those in power are not ready to give proper remuneration to the farmers, rather they are protecting the interests of middlemen, and pushing the common people into the ditch of inflation." Former Union Agriculture Minister said that today's youth is educated and has the right to demand jobs. He said industries are moving out of Maharashtra, no motivation is being given to existing industries and no opportunity is being given to establishing new businesses, due to which unemployment is increasing.
Sharad Pawar said, "Once while traveling, I met 15-20 boys aged 25-30 years at a village square. I asked them what they had done. Some said they were graduates, some said they were post-graduates. When I asked them are they married, everyone denied. When I asked them the reason, they said that no one is ready to give them their daughter because they do not have a job.'' Sharad Pawar said that Complaints are being heard more in the rural parts of the state.
