The festival of Marriage Panchami is scheduled to be celebrated today this year. Tell you all that this festival is very special for married couples. It is said that this was the day lord Ram and Sita Mata got married. It is also said that reading, listening and narrating the story of marriage on panchami makes the marriage happy. Now today we have brought the story of Marriage Panchami.
The story of Marriage Panchami- Ram was born to King Dashratha and Sita was the daughter of King Janak. It is believed that Sita was born from earth. King Janak was ploughing when he found a little girl named Sita. Sita ji is also known as 'Janaknandini'. Once Sita had lifted Shivaji's bow which no one else could lift except Parshuram. King Janak decided that Sita would be married to anyone who could lift Shiva's bow. Announcements were made for Sita's swayamvar.
Lord Ram and Lakshman also participated in Swayamvar. Many other princes had also come there, but no one could lift Shivaji's bow. King Janak was disappointed and said, 'Is no one worthy of my daughter?' Then Maharishi Vashishta asked Lord Ram to offer a bow of Shivaji. Following the Guru's orders, Lord Rama started offering the bow of Shiva and the bow broke. Thus Sita ji was married to Ram. In Indian society, Ram and Sita are considered examples of ideal couples (husband and wife). Ram Sita's life reflects love, ideals, dedication and values.
