New Delhi:- Martin Truex Jr. was untouchable at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Monday. Truex led all but 47 of the 301 laps to take his third win of the season. This dominating victory also put Truex in his number one position in the NASCAR Cup Series points standings.
It looked like Truex was going to win, but in the end he had to endure three restarts towards the end of the race. Noah Gragson crashed out with 31 laps to go, leaving the top ten teams to choose between two or four new tires at their pit stops. Car No. 19 ran on two tires and maintained its position on the track.
The rest of the top five made the same decision, so it was the right one. After missing out, Truex started third behind Kevin Harvick and Austin Dillon. Truex easily overtook both immediately after the restart.

He then led Joey Logano for the final two restarts of the race. These restarts involved multiple vehicle crashes, including those of Alex Bowman, Chris Buescher and Christopher Bell.
Truex started the rescheduled race on the front row with Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Bell and took the lead on lap two. The pit cycle was basically the only thing that kept him from taking the lead on the rest of the track. Dillon clocked 254 laps, the second most of any active driver behind Truex. Dillon led the twelve.
Truex was the favorite going into the race weekend in New Hampshire despite his winless record. He's retained his spot thanks to a string of top 12 finishes dating back to 2016, and it's clear that he deserved it this Liquidation Monday.

Ryan Blaney was second behind Truex when Gragson fell. At the final green flag pit stop of the day, he pitted a lap ahead of Truex to gain time for car #19. This step didn't work. A delayed pit stop by Blaney's crew cost Blaney time.
Blaney also needed two tires after Gragson's crash and he wanted to restart at the front of the field. However, he left the pits too early after the team put on the right tyres. With the tire changer still on the right side of the car, Blaney was run over by the front air tube while exiting his pit box and had to restart the race from the back of the field.
Blaney ended up finishing 22nd. Truex was the first of four Toyota drivers to finish in the top ten, while four Ford drivers also finished in the top ten. This left only Kyle Larson in 3rd and Dillon in 10th among the Chevrolet drivers at the front of the field.
Chevrolet was clearly overtaken by two other manufacturers on Monday. Jones came back to finish 11th despite two cautions, while Chase Elliott was still out of the playoffs and finished 12th. With Elliott sidelined by his broken leg and suspension for Denny Hamlin's accident in Charlotte, it will be one of the six remaining postseason games to secure a spot in the 16-man slot. will need to win.

Brad Keselowski is also looking good for a playoff spot. He is 108 points behind 17th and his Roush Fenway Racing team-mate Buescher is 97 points behind 17th. After that it gets really tight.
