The company has discontinued the diesel variants of the Indian automaker Maruti Swift. Maruti Suzuki has removed the diesel variants of its Swift from the company website. As of April 2019, Maruti Suzuki announced that it would discontinue diesel vehicles from April 1, 2020. The Maruti Suzuki Swift was given a Fiat 1.3 litre multi-jet diesel engine. This engine was also used by Maruti in the rest of its cars.

1.3 litre multijet diesel engine used to come in about 21 cars in the country. It was very powerful to drive with this engine and it gave a mileage of more than 15kmpl in many cars. Fiat has made around 800,050 units of this engine in two decades. The 1.3-litre diesel engine found in the Maruti Swift came with a capacity of 1,248 cc and it generates 74 bhp power at 4,000rpm and 190 Nm torque at 2,000rpm. This engine comes with a 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox. Apart from the Swift, the same engine was also available in other models of Dzire, Ritz, Ertiga and Maruti.
