Kolkata: Muslim Maulana has now come out in support of Trinamool Congress (TMC) Lok Sabha MP and Bengali film actress Nusrat Jahan after she termed her marriage with businessman Nikhil Jain as invalid. Maulana Kari Mustafa has justified Nusrat's invalid marriage with Nikhil. He described the marriage as not marriage, but an "illicit relationship" and asked him to repent and read 'Kalima' and enter Iman.

Maulana says that there was a marriage between people of two religions, but it was not a marriage at all. If there is a marriage between people of two religions, they should have married, according to the religion of Nusrat, or by enrolling him in Islam, that is, by 'conversion'. It may be recalled that Bengali actress Nusrat Jahan married businessman Nikhil Jain in Turkey in 2019. But now Nusrat Jahan had termed her marriage with Nikhil Jain as invalid and said that it was not a marriage but a 'live-in relationship' in terms of court.

On June 9, 2021, Nusrat Jahan said that she was married to Nikhil Jain in Turkey, which is invalid according to Indian law. Nusrat had said that she was on Indian soil, so the wedding ceremony was invalid under the Turkish Marriage Regulation. They had termed it as an interfaith marriage. It also said that the marriage was not recognized under the Special Marriage Act of India. At the same time, Nusrat Jahan had also accused Nikhil Jain of misusing his money without his knowledge.
