Lucknow: Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has been asked to appoint a Muslim as the national president of the Samajwadi Party (SP). Barelvi Ulema Maulana Shahabuddin has made this demand to the SP chief. Maulana Shahabuddin is also the national president of the All India Muslim Jamaat. He has said that if Akhilesh Yadav does not do this, then Muslims also have other options. He has described SP's Muslim love as just a sham.

Maulana Shahabuddin, at the beginning of his video message, mentioned the SP's national convention scheduled in Lucknow on September 28-29, 2022. He has said that the decision on SP's national president is to be taken at this conference. According to Maulana Shahabuddin, it is almost certain that Akhilesh Yadav will become the national president of the party again. In his video, Maulana Shahabuddin said that this time a Muslim should be made the national president of SP because Muslims have made both Mulayam and Akhilesh sit on the CM's chair. He said that the SP which was earlier is not there now. Now the SP is shattered. Akhilesh Yadav ignores the issues of Muslims.
Referring to the increase in the Muslim population, Shahabuddin has said that the people of Akhilesh Yadav's fraternity (Yadav community) are only 7 per cent in the whole of UP. Whereas, Muslims constitute 22 to 25 per cent of the population in the state. It is the right of Muslims to decide all the big posts of SP this time. Maulana Shahabuddin further said that Akhilesh Yadav will have to sacrifice to give the post of national president to Muslims. If Akhilesh Yadav cannot make these sacrifices, so Muslims have other options in the coming elections.
