Max Verstappen, a 24-year-old driver from Redbull, has won the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix by beating seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton in the final lap in one of the most interesting races in Formula One history here on Sunday. He has become the world champion for the first time. They have also broken the dominance of the Mercedes, which has been going on for 7 years. If Hamilton had won, he would have surpassed German legend Michael Schumacher (07) as the champion for the 8th time.

Hamilton was leading in all the laps in the race held at The Yes Marina Circuit in Dubai, but in the last lap, Max picked up the pace with the help of new tyres and overtook. Verstappen started from pole position. Hamilton and Verstappen had started together in the final lap. Verstappen has beaten him in the first 4 turns.

Mercedes registers protest: According to reports, Mercedes has also lodged a protest after the race, saying that the safety car arrived late, giving Verstappen a good opportunity to overtake Hamilton. This was the grand end of the F-1 season after 22 races on 4 continents. This was the first time since 1974 that both the contender's Max and Hamilton had the same 369.5 points before the final race of the season.

 

 

Hamilton hugs Verstappen: Hamilton was embraced by his father after the race.  After which Hamilton went to the garage and embraced Verstappen and his father Jose Verstappen. Jose himself remained a Formula One driver.
