Mayawati: Nothing wrong with 'Udta Punjab'

Thursday, Former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Supremo Mayawati  said there was "nothing wrong" with the film Udta Punjab and backed the drug-themed Bollywood movie which is in the eye of an escalating censorship row.

Mayawati said, "There is nothing wrong with the film. BSP supports it,"

The film starring Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Diljit Dosanjh delves into how the youth in Punjab have succumbed to drugs. It is slated for release on June 17.

"The movie is based on the drug menace in Punjab. It seeks to create awareness among people against the bad effects of drug use," she said.
