Lucknow: Former CM and BSP supremo Mayawati has attacked the current Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh for threatening the victim's lawyers and witnesses following the gang rape and murder in Hathras case Uttar Pradesh. Mayawati tweeted from her official Twitter account that "The difficulties faced by the victims of up's most tragic and shameful Hathras gang rape is understandable. But the new facts that have now been revealed in the court again raise serious questions about the functioning of the government in the matter of bringing justice to the victims."

In another tweet, Mayawati wrote, "The UP government is again in the dock by taking cognizance of the new facts in Hathras case by the Hon'ble High Court and ordering an inquiry into the intimidation of witnesses, etc. People are compelled to think about how the victims will get justice? The general perception is that there is a rule of criminals in UP and that it is very difficult to get justice, what is wrong?"

Recently, the High Court had ordered the district judge and CRPF to investigate the matter within 15 days and send the report. The High Court said that after the report is received, where will the trial of the case be considered. In such a situation, instructions were given to provide security to the victim's family.
