New Delhi: The bulldozing action that took place in Jahangirpuri in the national capital is in the news these days. The matter has reached the Supreme Court. Meanwhile, the BJP-ruled South and East Delhi municipal bodies on Friday said they will intensify the anti-encroachment drive in their jurisdiction and continue to identify the structures occupying public land.

The South and East Delhi Municipal Corporations have said that meetings are being held continuously to identify the encroachment sites in the two municipal bodies and carry out anti-encroachment drives. Delhi BJP president Adesh Gupta had recently written a letter to the mayors of both the corporations, in which they had asked them to remove encroachments by Rohingyas, Bangladeshis and anti-social elements in the area of municipal corporations.

South Delhi Municipal Corporation Mayor Mukesh Suryan has said that there are frequent meetings to chalk out a strategy to remove encroachments from public land. He said, "We are going to intensify our anti-encroachment drive. No encroachers will be spared. On Friday, we held a meeting with the officials and identified several sites in the SDMC jurisdiction, and more locations are being added and by Monday we will have a final list and action will be taken after that."
