Meena Kumari, known as the Tragedy Queen of Bollywood, was born on 1 August 1933 in Mumbai. Meena's father Master Ali Baksh was a Muslim while her mother was a Bengali Christian. However, in films, Meena Kumari always hid her left hand with a dupatta or sari. On 14 February 1952, 18-year-old Meena Kumari secretly married 34-year-old Kamal Amrohi. Kamal Amrohi was already married and the father of three children. Although the two later parted ways, they were never divorced. Meena Kumari died on 31 March 1972 and the cause of her death was stated to be liver cirrhosis. It is said that she had become fond of alcohol and started drinking a lot.
