Actually, it is the same IAS officer who has made a drought-prone district like Dewas green again in Madhya Pradesh. IAS officer Umakant Umrao has served as the DM of Dewas, Madhya Pradesh in the year 2006. He is a graduate from IIT Roorkee, as well as studied economics.
In the year 2006, he started the Dewas plan with 40 farmers from Dewas in Madhya Pradesh to end the drought, under this plan, he worked in the interest of the farmers and got many ponds constructed to save water. Let us tell you that Dewas of Madhya Pradesh is such a place, which is recognized as a drought-prone area. In the year 2006, when Umakant Umrao was working as an IAS officer in Dewas, Madhya Pradesh.
There was a demand of some farmers that they had to get the ponds constructed for the provision of water, due to the bad attitude of the banks, the loans of the farmers were not being passed. In view of the low income and problems of the farmers, IAS Umakant put the plan of monsoon pond in front of some farmers. After this he started digging a pond in Dewas to save water and he started the work of depositing rain water in this pond.
