Her father Thirumeni Mahesh of Bhama is an Elephant Caretaker. Along with him, Bhama has also started doing this work. When she bathes the elephant, she also pours water over him. Her mother says that people also know about Uma and Bhama's friendship. Uma follows Bhama back and forth.
People of the area were scared at first seeing Bhama and Uma together. Even they used to complain to her parents why are you letting your child play with the elephant.
