Mumbai: The Maharashtra government has refused to impose lockdown for the time being even after rising cases of coronavirus. In fact, today, deputy CM Ajit Pawar had convened a meeting to review the current corona crisis in the state on Wednesday and refused to impose a lockdown for the time being. Health Minister Rajesh Tope and senior government officials in Mumbai were among those who attended the meeting.
However, on Tuesday, Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar had hinted at a lockdown and said that if daily corona cases cross the 20,000 mark, a lockdown will have to be imposed in the city. He urged everyone to wear triple-layer masks while travelling in public buses and local trains as well as follow all corona protocols.
More than 10 ministers and 20 MLA corona have been infected in Maharashtra so far, state Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar had reported. Pawar had said that the coronavirus is gaining momentum in the state. If it does not take a break, we have to take some drastic steps. On the other hand, 58,097 new cases of corona infection have been reported in the country in the last 24hours. Corona killed 534 people in a day. So, the number of people infected with omicron has increased to 2,135.
