Meghalaya: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is currently on a visit to Meghalaya. In fact, home minister Amit Shah has launched the Green Sohra Plantation Campaign of Assam Rifles in Shillong today. In his address, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said, "Assam Rifles, Paramilitary Force, Meghalaya and Government of India have to work together to make Cherrapunji green again. In the coming 10-15 years, a situation has to be created so that if the highest rainfall occurs, it will be in Cherrapunji.'' At the same time, he further said, "Earlier, Cherrapunji used to receive the highest rainfall in the country. Within 25-30 years, Cherrapunji has lost his identity. This is due to the indiscriminate felling of trees. Meghalaya is a state living in the midst of clouds, if there is less rainfall here, what a big crisis it is.''

Let us also tell all of you that Union Home Minister Amit Shah reached Shillong on Saturday with the objective of resolving border issues and other important discussions related to north-eastern states. Last Saturday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the inter-state bus terminal at Maviong in East Khasi Hills.

He was accompanied by CM Konrad Sangma and Union Minister G Kishan Reddy. The Home Minister said that "the work that is being done today should have been done many years ago. It will improve the road connectivity of the North East and make the region an economic hub. It begins when India is going to celebrate the 75th year of its independence and Meghalaya will celebrate the 50th year of its establishment.''
