Meghalaya: Teachers protest in Shillong, Here's why

Ten office-bearers of the Meghalaya Sarba Siksha Abhiyan School Association (MSSASA), enraged by the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) Government's failure to pay their salaries for the past three months, staged black flag sit-in demonstration at Khyndailad, Shillong, from 12 p.m. on Friday to protest the Golden Celebration of Meghalaya Statehood Day.

Due to COVID-19 protocol, the MSSASA office-bearers are protesting on behalf of the 12,541 SSA teachers. The protests is followed by a candlelight vigil in Khyndailad, Shillong, from 5.00 pm to 5:30 pm.

Aristotle C Rymbai, president of MSSASA's central body, led by the ten office bearers.
