Mehbooba Mufti: Defeating BJP in UP elections will be bigger freedom than 1947

Srinagar: People's Democratic Party (PDP) supremo and former CM Mehbooba Mufti on Monday launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). She said getting rid of this party in UP will be big freedom than in 1947 as these people want to divide the country. Addressing the Tribal Youth Conference of PDP in Jammu, Mehbooba said, "Assembly elections are due in UP, so BJP leaders are remembering Aurangzeb and Babur. Today, we have got an opportunity to get rid of the BJP.''

PDP supremo hits out at BJP over development works issue. She said the BJP should explain where the development has taken place as they had promised to develop the state. Mehbooba Mufti further said, "They are giving jobs and land to outsiders and promise to develop the state. I tell them to show everyone where the development has taken place in Uttar Pradesh. They are not able to provide a hospital to the people of UP.''

In Uttar Pradesh, voting will be held in seven phases. 403 assembly seats in UP will go to the polls in 7 phases from February 10 to March 7. The state will go to the polls in the first phase on February 10. The second phase of polling will be held on 14th February, 3rd on 20th February, 4th on 23rd February, 5th on 27th February, 6th on 3rd March and 7th phase on 10th March and counting of votes will also be held on the same day.
