The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has informed that there will be monsoon rains in Kerala within next 24 hours. Two days later, Monsoon will reach North East India. The delay in monsoon is likely to affect the agriculture sector, which is already reeling under drought. IMD chief D. Siwananda Pai has said that, "from South to North India, the monsoon will be delayed by five-seven days. It is too early to make assumptions on the progress of monsoon. However, rainfall across the country is expected to be lower than normal in June. '

The Private Meteorological Department center Skymet had also earlier estimated the arrival of the monsoon on June 4. However, the skymate then extended its date to June 7.  Due to the delay in monsoon, people in some places have started the Puja text to please the nature. One such unique photograph also came to light from Bengaluru, where worshippers were worshipping for rain while sitting in a large-sized vessel filled with water in a temple.
