New Delhi: In the Indian Premier League (IPL) Kings XI Punjab is among the teams which could not win a single title. Punjab is counted as one of the league's most unsuccessful teams. The team's best performance was in 2014 when it reached the finals for the first and only time. However, they lost to Kolkata Knight Riders in this final and their dream of winning the title for the first time was shattered. Punjab team has been in search of a new coach since Mike Hesson, who was the coach of the team, decided to part with the team last month.

According to a newspaper report, Punjab has shortlisted former Australian coach and player Michael Hussey as the coach of the team. Along with him, former Australia coach Darren Lehmann, John Bailey and former England coach Andy Flower have also been shortlisted. Mike Hussey is the most experienced of the last names selected by the Punjab team for the post of coach.

Hussey was associated with the Chennai Super Kings from 2008 to 2011, during which Chennai won the IPL title twice. In the year 2018, he was once again associated with the Chennai Super Kings as a batting coach. The Punjab team would like Hussey to help the Punjab team end the title drought like Chennai.
