Los Angeles: Hollywood Actress Michelle Yeoh has joined the star-studded cast of Jon M. Chu's 'Wicked' movies.
As per"Variety," reports, it reads: "Everything Everywhere All At Once" actress will portray Madame Morrible, the headmistress of Crage Hall at Shiz University.
Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo star in Chu's two-part film adaption as Glinda and Elphaba, respectively. The Christmas 2024 and 2025 release dates for the Universal Pictures movies have been determined.
Preceding "The Wizard of Oz," "Wicked" describes how Elphaba changed into the Wicked Witch of the West and how Glinda evolved into the Good Witch.
When the studio revealed that the adaptation will be split into two parts, Chu said in a statement, "We chose to give ourselves a broader canvas and make not just one 'Wicked' movie, but two."
'Variety' also exclusively revealed that Broadway veteran Ethan Slater, who received a Tony nomination for 'SpongeBob SquarePants: The Musical', will play the role of Boq. 'With more space, we can tell the story of 'Wicked' as it was meant to be told while bringing even more depth and surprise to the journeys for these beloved characters.'
There are still ongoing negotiations for Jeff Goldblum to play the Wizard, but no agreement has been finalised, according to sources.
