Colombo: Former Pakistan cricket team coach Mickey Arthur can now get the post of head coach of Sri Lanka cricket team. According to a report by Cricinfo, Chandika Hathurusingha is currently the head coach of Sri Lanka's cricket team, who is not yet officially terminated from his position.
Meanwhile, Arthur has not signed the agreement with Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC), but Sri Lanka's Board officials have expressed confidence in appointing him as a coach. Sri Lanka is scheduled to visit Pakistan next month, where they have to play 2 Test series with Pakistan team from 11 December. Sri Lanka's board has been searching for a new coach since the end of the World Cup and during that time board also talked to several former coaches, but now Arthur has stepped forward for this position.
SLC CEO Ashley Silva said, "We are in talks with Mickey. We understand that we are capable of arriving at the contract." Arthur has previously coached South Africa, Australia and Pakistan. But his coaching work between 2016 to 2019 has been good with Pakistan's team, where it defeated team India in 2017 and win ICC Champions Trophy.
