Hyderabad: On Monday, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi registered his nomination documents from the Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency. He reached the Hyderabad Collectorate along with party general secretary and Yakutpura MLA Syed Ahmed Pasha Quadri and a couple of sympathizers. He filed his nomination a couple of hours after the poll process began with the issue of notification by election authorities.

"Alhamdulillah, filed my nomination papers today. Hyderabad Parliamentary Constituency has been the voice of India's impoverished, oppressed and weak. Inshallah, it will continue to be so," he tweeted. Since 2004, Mr. Owaisi has been representing the Hyderabad constituency and is seeking re-election for the fourth back to back term. Preceding this he was MLA from Charminar twice. Since 1984, Hyderabad has been a MIM stronghold; from 1984 to 2004, his father Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi represented the constituency over six consecutive terms.

Later on, Mr. Owaisi went to the Dargah Hazrat Yousufain, Nampally, where he performed the noon prayers and paid floral tributes to the saints. Afterward, at night he launched his campaign from Nawab Sahab Kunta, a bastion of the MUM. He took out a rally and connected with the residents and heard their issues and complaints. He looked for blessings from elderly men and women.
