The Maharashtra government has been in function mode since taking power. Many ministers of Mahavikas Akhadi have taken action since assuming their office. Recently, Maharashtra Minister Nawab Malik has said that if the state government receives a complaint based on sufficient evidence, it will consider an investigation into the alleged death of CBI Judge BH Loya in 2014 under suspicious circumstances.

According to media reports, BH Loya, who is hearing the fake encounter case of Sohrabuddin Sheikh of Gujarat, died of a heart attack on 1 December 2014 when he went to attend the wedding of the daughter of one of his companions.

NCP spokesman and state minister Nawab Malik told journalists during a meeting in Mumbai that if a complaint is found with sufficient evidence, the government would consider reopening the judge BH Loya case. In the Shiv Sena-led government, the ministers of NCP met for four hours. The meeting was chaired by NCP chief Sharad Pawar. He had said that only if there is any evidence in the complaint, the matter will be investigated. No investigation will be done without reason. Significantly, after the formation of the Shiv Sena-Congress-NCP government in Maharashtra last year, Pawar was asked about whether there would be any investigation into the alleged suspicious death of Loya? While answering this question, Pawar had made it clear that investigation into Judge Loya's case is possible. Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh has also indicated that the government can take any action if someone comes with a complaint in this matter.
