The Union Health Ministry in India has revised the clinical management protocol for the corona virus. The Ministry of Health said in a statement that now corona virus patients with moderate and severe conditions with oxygen support have been allowed to use the glucocorticosteroid dexamethasone as an alternative to methylprednisolone. Dexamethasone is a steroid that significantly reduces the mortality rate of corona patients with oxygen support.
World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyes said that WHO insists that dexamethasone drug should be used only for patients with corona under clinical supervision. There is no evidence that this drug acts as a preventive measure for patients with mild symptoms. This can cause harm.
Oxford University has also confirmed in research that dexamethasone reduces the risk of death by up to 35 per cent in corona patients who are in critical condition. In India too, this drug is being used on Corona patients. It was told that this drug is easily available in the markets. Cases of coronavirus are increasing in the country, but in the meantime, the news of relief is that the number of patients recovering from corona in the country has reached 3 lakh. Corona's recovery rate in the country has exceeded 58 percent, which is a piece of good news.
According to the latest figures of the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry, a total of 2,95,881 people have been cured of Corona so far. In the country, 10,245 patients of Corona have been cured in the last 24 hours. The country's recovery rate has exceeded 58 percent, while the death rate from corona in the country has reached 15,685. There are currently 1,97,387 active cases in the country.
