NEW DELHI: Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi in the Modi government 2.0 said on Tuesday that the Modi government has abolished the "cheating" of Haj subsidy with the "force of honesty". During the launch of the two-day training programme of Haj Coordinator, Haj Assistant, etc.

Naqvi said that our honest and transparent system has resulted in the failure of the Haj pilgrims to be unnecessarily burdened even after the subsidy is exhausted and the highest number of Indian Muslims in the history of the country. We will go on Haj pilgrimage for years.

He said, the Central Government has taken effective steps to ensure the safety and security of Haj pilgrims and there will be no tolerance on the subject. The Minister said that 620 Haj Coordinators, Assistant Haj Officers, Haj Assistants, Doctors, Para-Medics, etc., have been appointed in Saudi Arabia to help haj pilgrims who are going on Haj 2019, including a large number of women.

Naqvi said that a record two lakh Indian Muslims will go on Haj this year through more than 500 flights from 21 airports across the country without any subsidy. One lakh 40 thousand Haj pilgrims will go on Haj through the Haj Committee of India and 60 thousand Haj pilgrims through Haj Group Organisers (HGO). The organizers of the Haj group will also have to carry 10,000 Haj pilgrims on the package prescribed by the Haj Committee of India.
