The medal winners of the Tokyo Olympics have been gearing up to send the players abroad to prepare for the Commonwealth and Asian Games, keeping them away from the celebrations in the country. After sending Tokyo gold medalist Neeraj Chopra to the US, Tokyo silver and bronze medalist wrestlers Ravi Kumar and Bajrang along with 5th ranked Deepak Poonia are now looking to send to Russia. The three wrestlers will be preparing at the same center in Bladikavkj where they also completed preparations for the Olympics.

Preparations will be done at the Bladikavkj Center: A proposal has been prepared to send all the three wrestlers to Russia in the TOPS division of SAI. However, Ravi and Deepak have not got visas yet. In such a situation, the three wrestlers are expected to leave Russia in the month of January. At present, preparations are being made to send these soldiers to Russia for a month. The purpose behind sending all three to the Bladikavkj Center is said to bring back their old fitness.

Both Bajrang and Deepak were injured: According to reports, both Bajrang and Deepak Poonia had knee injuries in the middle of the Tokyo Olympics. Bajrang had suffered this injury during training in Russia itself. After returning from Tokyo, both the wrestlers underwent treatment from Dr. Dinsha Padiwala in Mumbai. Both were sent on rehabilitation. Now both the wrestlers have recovered from the injury, but they have to work very hard to regain their old fitness. At present, Bajrang is busy keeping himself fit at home with the help of his physio. Neeraj is also currently working to improve his fitness at the Chula Vista Center in the US under the tutelage of Germany coach Klaul Bartinietz.
