New Delhi: Indian Women captain Mithali Raj once again topped the Women's ODI International rankings of the International Cricket Council (ICC) after more than three years, due to her stellar performance in the three-match series against England. Though India suffered a 1-2 defeat in the series, 38-year-old Mithali scored half-centuries in all three matches.
Mithali scored 72 and 59 in the first two ODIs, while her unbeaten 75 in the third and final match helped India win the match. Mithali has moved up four places to the top of the ICC rankings. Earlier, she had topped the rankings in February 2018. Mithali first topped the rankings in April 2005. Shee then scored an unbeaten 91 against New Zealand in the World Cup at Potchefastrum. The gap of 16 years between being at the top of the rankings for the first and last time is the highest for any female batsman.
England's Janet Britin became the top batsman for the first time in 1984 and the last time in 1995, while New Zealand's Daby Hawkley is another female batsman with a gap of more than 10 years to occupy the top. Hawkley first topped the rankings in 1987 and last in 1997. In a 22-year-long international career, Mithali Raj (Mithali Raj) has become the No.1 ODI batsman for the eighth time.
