Amid a surge in Covid-19 cases in the state, the Andhra government has tightened the restrictions for weddings and other functions throughout the state. The state currently allows only a limited number of people to be present in wedding ceremonies, strictly adhering to Covid-19 rules. Police said that the TDP leader grandly celebrated the marriage of his daughter by completely violating Covid-19 lockdown norms and inviting more guests to the wedding.

Police who came to know about the TDP leader Eranna Madakasira's daughter’s lavish wedding filed a case against him in Anantapur district. It has been clearly stated in the lockdown and unlocks rules of the state and central government that not more than 50 people would be allowed for marriages. If any function had more number of people than the stipulated figure, it would invite the wrath of the authorities.

This is what has happened with Erranna. He had a grand celebration of his daughter’s marriage in his home town. This was noticed by the police and they have immediately booked a case against the bride and bridegroom’s fathers. It is said that the case would also be on the groom as well. The police are reluctant to disclose the details and what would be the punishment for violation of Covid-19 rules.
