The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has announced that seven foreign leaders will be present at the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the new Council of Ministers on Sunday evening. The event is scheduled to take place at 7:15 PM on June 9 at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, where President Droupadi Murmu will administer the oath of office and secrecy.

Foreign Leaders Attending the Ceremony

The MEA confirmed that leaders from India's neighboring countries and the Indian Ocean region have accepted the invitation to attend the ceremony. The list includes:

  1. Ranil Wickremesinghe, President of Sri Lanka
  2. Mohamed Muizzu, President of Maldives
  3. Ahmed Afif, Vice-President of Seychelles
  4. Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister of Bangladesh
  5. Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, Prime Minister of Mauritius
  6. Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Prime Minister of Nepal
  7. Tshering Tobgay, Prime Minister of Bhutan

Highlights from the MEA Announcement

The MEA's press release mentioned that these dignitaries will also attend a banquet hosted by President Murmu at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. This gathering highlights India's commitment to strengthening ties with its neighbors and regional partners.

Arrival of Foreign Leaders

Sheikh Hasina: The Prime Minister of Bangladesh has already arrived in Delhi and was welcomed by Muktesh Pardeshi, Secretary (CPV & OIA).
Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’: The Prime Minister of Nepal will arrive on Sunday for a three-day visit to India and will return on Tuesday.

Modi's Assurance to the Nation

After being given the letters of support by the leaders of the BJP-led NDA, Prime Minister Modi expressed his gratitude to the people for electing the NDA for a third term. He emphasized the importance of the 18th Lok Sabha, noting its significance in harnessing new and youthful energy to achieve national aspirations. Modi assured that the momentum of progress witnessed in previous terms would continue unabated.
