Patna: The Modi government of the Center has announced a grant of Rs 400 crore for Bihar facing floods and waterlogging. This decision was taken on Friday in a high-level meeting under the leadership of Home Minister Amit Shah in view of the worsening situation of floods in Bihar and Karnataka. Earlier, the Government of Sikkim has given assistance to Bihar and Odisha has also assured assistance. Meanwhile, the central team has reached Patna to assess the damage caused by the floods.
According to the information received, in a high-level meeting under the leadership of Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday, an amount of Rs 400 crore has been announced to help flood-hit Bihar. This amount is to be given to SDRF from National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) for relief and rescue. Apart from this, the state will also get Rs 213.75 crore from the State Disaster Relief Fund.
The state government will be able to use Rs 213.75 crore received from the State Disaster Relief Fund to run the relief immediately. This amount is available every year. The Central Government has accepted this amount from the National Disaster Relief Fund for the July-August floods.
