Lucknow: In view of the coronavirus epidemic, the Modi government of the Center has increased the salary of workers of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) by 20 rupees. According to sources, the National Rural Development Ministry has allocated Rs 4,431 crore in the form of salary and material arrears of MNREGA to the union territories of the state this week. Till now the government used to give Rs 182 to the MNREGA laborers as daily wages, which has now increased to Rs 202.

In view of the coronavirus crisis, the Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh has delivered Rs 611 crore directly into the bank accounts of 27.5 lakh workers of the state due to the lockdown announced till April 14 across the country. UP CM Yogi Adityanath has directly transferred Rs 611 crore to the bank accounts of 27.5 lakh workers of the state in a program organized under MNREGA scheme at 5 Kalidas Marg, his official residence here.

Along with this, CM Yogi interacted with four workers of Bahraich, Varanasi, Sonbhadra and Deoria through video conferencing and also informed them about the scheme. CM Yogi said that, 'The Government of India is also taking action to provide them one kg of pulses and all cylinders of LPG under the Ujjwala scheme every month. The state government has also arranged for free food grains for more than 80 lakh MNREGA workers. "
