New Delhi: The Narendra Modi government is celebrating the 75th anniversary of the country's independence as 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.' The Modi government has taken a big decision on prisoners lodged in jails to make this year special.
According to information received from sources, the Modi government has decided that certain categories of prisoners lodged in jails across the country will be given special amnesty for 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.' This work of his release will be done in 3 phases. The first phase will be held on 15th August 2022, the 75th anniversary of independence. On that day, special categories of prisoners will be released from the jails. The second phase will be held on the occasion of Republic Day on January 26, 2023.
The third and final phase will be held on August 15, 2023. On that day also, many prisoners will be given a pardon and released from jail. The aim of this scheme is to encourage prisoners who show good conduct in jail. According to sources, prisoners who commit serious and heinous crimes will not be given a pardon in this particular scheme. They have to complete the sentence given by the court in every situation.
