New Delhi: The central government has told the Supreme Court on Saturday that it is ready to give 400 square meters instead of 200 square meters for the construction of Sant Ravidas temple. In this way, the Center has agreed to give more land for the construction of the temple than before. In the last hearing in the Sant Ravidas temple case, the central government had told the top court that in view of the sensitivity of the case and the faith of the devotees, the government would give 200 square meters of land at the same place for the construction of the temple.
The Central Government had informed the Supreme Court of its decision. The temple built in the forest land was removed by the DDA on the order of the apex court. This information was given by the Center while replying to the petitions filed in the court against it. Earlier, the Supreme Court had indicated to the solution that the petitioners had asked Congress leaders Ashok Tanwar and Pradeep Jain to bring redressal in the case.
Haryana Election: Red carpet laid for voters here, being welcomed by applying tilak
The Sant Ravidas Temple at Tughlakabad was demolished following a Supreme Court order. This was followed by fierce protests in Delhi and several adjoining districts and then a petition was filed in the case in the apex court. In fact, former President of Haryana Congress Ashok Tanwar and former Union Minister Pradeep Jain had filed a petition in the apex court demanding the reconstruction of the temple. The petition said that the temple is more than 600 years old, so new laws do not apply to it.
