This is the first time since the BJP's landslide victory in the assembly elections held in February-March that the House is meeting. While the BJP has won in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur, the AAP has won in Punjab. When PM Modi was welcomed, Congress national president Sonia Gandhi and other opposition leaders were also present in the House. PM Modi entered the House when Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla was speaking about a parliamentary delegation from Austria that witnessed the proceedings of the House.
In the video, it can be seen that as soon as the Prime Minister enters the House, all the politicians stand up with enthusiasm and chant his name. PM Modi comes in with folded hands and sits on his seat. Om Birla, while welcoming the Austrian delegation, has expressed his gratitude to the Austrian Parliament, the Austrian Government and the people of Austria on behalf of the House as well as the people of India. The delegation is led by Wolfgang Sobotka, head of Austria's national council.
